What Come Into View by The Surface Collective. A diverse group of nine artists have come together to exhibit new work in the Williamson Tunnels.

Wheelchair Access No, the Heritage Centre, the cafe and surrounding shops are accessable to wheelchairs however due to the nature of the site the tunnels are only accessable through a network of steps and walkways that are uneven underfoot in places.

Private View 08.10.2010. 18.00 - 21.00 Admission to the tunnels is free during the Private View event.

The Surface Collective is comprised of nine national and international artists who have come together to create a multi-disciplinary, site specific exhibition for the Independent strand of the Liverpool Biennial.

Their exhibition, Come into View is an exploration of ideas focused around Liverpool’s famous Williamson Tunnels and will see a series of art works created and installed in response to the Tunnels unique atmosphere and history.

The artists were initially enticed and intrigued by the eccentric nature of the site and its creator. The origin and purpose of the Tunnels is surrounded in myth and speculation and new discoveries as to its construction and purpose only serve to heighten its allure as an unconventional venue to work and exhibit in.

The eclectic background of the artists within the collective from visual artists, painters, film makers, sculptors and ceramicists to illustrators and graphic designers serves to produce an intriguing exhibition that utilises this diversity to bring nine unique perspectives and responses to the venue.
